Humboldt Bay Nuclear Power Plant

Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) hired American DND from 2015 through 2020 to provide Demolitions Subject Matter Experts, as Owner’s Representatives to assist with the oversight of the Contractors performing actual demolitions at the former Humboldt Bay Nuclear Power Plant in Eureka California. The demolition work included the complete decommissioning and demolitions of the entire facility including the removal of all underground caissons and foundations to a depth of approximately 200’ below grade. American DND personnel also assisted with the review of Structural Analysis and Demolition Workplans in a seismically sensitive area as well as transitioning to provide onsite ES&H Representatives. PG&E also transitioned the SME’s and ES&H Reps to assist with the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant Decommissioning Work which has been temporarily suspended based on California’s review of their existing energy policies.
