Dairyland’s Alma Station 700′ Stack

American DND performed the 700’ tall Chimney Implosion prep and felling of the Chimney from 2016 through 2017.  The retired Alma Station, which came online in 1947, had helped power the region for decades. The first three units of the power plant ceased operations in 2011. Dairyland Power Cooperative, the station’s owner, retired the final two units in 2014.

American DND proceeded safely with dismantlement and decommissioning of Alma Station Chimney in full compliance with regulatory requirements, and coordinated the temporary shutdown of two locks on the Mississippi River, a highway, two high speed rail lines and outage of an adjacent power plant for the implosion event.
